The call for Cashless: 70% of customers more encouraged to attend an event with a COVID-secure cashless system

In our recent ‘roadmap out of lockdown’ customer survey (view) we discovered a bit more about not only the appetite of festival-goers to get back to the events that they love, but also what changes they hope and expect to see on-site when they make their long-awaited return.

Beyond the headline statistic that more than 90% of people feel confident returning to festivals and live events this year, another figure caught our attention: 70% of people said that they would be more encouraged to attend a festival/event if it were to implement a COVID-secure cashless system on site for bars, food vendors and all other payments.

Our versatile cashless solution egPay offers Contactless, Apple/Google Pay and RFID cashless solutions for your events.

The results from our survey are perhaps not surprising given what we have learned about the benefits of going cashless over the past year:

•  Cashless is more hygienic than cash handling.
•  Reassure fans and staff that you are prioritising their health and safety.
•  Reduce contact points between fans and event staff/vendors.
•  Reduce cash handling, theft, errors and counting.
•  Reduce queues and improve audience flow.
•  Better customer data and analytics.
•  Increase revenues.

It also reflects a trend that we saw coming regardless of the pandemic, investing heavily in developing egPay as well as new contactless ticketing and access control products. But the fact that a significant proportion of fans now specifically identify this as a key motivating factor behind their decision to buy tickets or attend events is a landmark moment and has seen lots of festivals signed up with egPay over recent months including the likes of EDC (Portugal), UNUM (Albania), Afro Nation (Portugal, pictured below), The One In The Woods (UK) and Rolling Loud (Portugal).
