As well as welcoming new starters in our Meet the Team series, we wanted to shine a light on some of the longer-serving members of our Event Genius family.
We’ll catch up with each to find out a bit more about their role here at Event Genius, what they enjoy the most, their journey so far, and what they like to get up to in their spare time.
Next up is our Junior Event Operations Manager Jimmy Ingham, who when he’s not leading our on-site operations is touring round the North of England as part of indie band Cliché Cult.
Tell us about your current role at Event Genius?
I currently work in the capacity of Junior Event Operations Manager, a role in which I am responsible for the preparation from start to finish for our access and cashless operations.
These duties include creating travel plans, collating all information surrounding the events we work with, delivering assets to our clients, and the management of all our devices that we use on site.
That is my usual day-to-day, however, I am also the Event Lead at the majority of our events throughout this summer, running the operation on the ground and being the initial point of contact and representative for Event Genius.
How did you get to working at Event Genius and how long have you worked for the company?
I’ve always worked within the music and creative industry so when I decided to leave Ticketmaster and move back to Leeds, working for what was then just Event Genius and Ticket Arena was a no brainer for me, and I've been here for just over three years.
How would you describe working at Event Genius?
Unpredictably exciting is the best way to put it. We serve so many different festivals all over the world so the diversity in our clients is a real plus for me.
Tell us how your typical day looks?
We are deep into festival season right now so my day consists of booking travel, speaking with our clients about their needs, and building all of our events on the system that we use.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
Travelling, being able to go to different countries, and meet new people and colleagues is amazing.
What are you looking forward to next in your role at Event Genius?
It’s always exciting going to new places so I would have to say running ION Festival in Albania. I've never been there so it will be such a new experience for me. I am also really excited for the next festival season where we can break new ground with new and exciting events.
Have you always been in your current role and team? If not, tell us about your journey at Event Genius into this role?
I started as a Customer Support and Ticket Dispatch Executive within the company and have moved straight from that role into this new role. It’s been really interesting to see the company develop and get larger, especially since the acquisition from Festicket. I’ve always worked on site at events so it’s been great to slowly merge my outside-of-work hobbies into the professional space.
What has been your most memorable experience at Event Genius to date?
This year we worked with Event Horizon on one of the biggest Pay and Access operations we’ve ever done. This was in Portugal and it was a great experience to be a part of, especially working with the great team that was involved.
And finally, what do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?
I’ve always been into music and the live events industry. I play in a band, Cliché Cult, in which we play a lot of shows around the North of England and sometimes London which is great.
I also run live events myself as a promoter with a few friends of mine under the name Shoplifter’s Union, targeting small music venues around Manchester and Leeds. And under the same name we run a small record label and blog as well so I spend a lot of my time either at gigs or at festivals.
Jimmy is based in our Leeds office, but we also have offices in London and across the world, including in Europe, North America and Australia, and are actively growing our teams across all these territories.
We’re a close-knit team of passionate music fans and event-goers dedicated to making the industry a better place for fans and organisers alike, and are always on the lookout for other like-minded individuals to join the family.
